About this deal

Once installed fix your chosen bracket to the ground screw using carbon steel self-drilling screws 5. Some panels or boxes have the ground hole pierced so there is more surface area for the threads of the screw. If they didn't, it's probably illegal according to your local building department, and you can argue that way. Those contact points I mentioned are actually cold welds You are disconnecting welded connections so even mild clamping will work.

A four square is much thicker, and would easily engage 2 threads if it was field tapped for a 10-32. The TEK heads prevented using the adjacent holes, unless you removed the TEK screw, terminated the wire, then reinstalled the ground bar using the same hole, which then would not tighten down correctly. I'm sure we all remember our mom's telling us that your grounding system is only as good as it's weakest link. Cost-Effectiveness: In many cases, screws can be more cost-effective due to reduced labour and time.I'm beginning to question everything I've ever been taught, because I'm beginning to believe I was never taught properly to begin with. The ground bar was not in good contact with the enclosure due to the TEK screws being over torqued (stripped the hole in the enclosure) when installed using a drill motor. The reason this is in place, is due to the product either being double insulated, or using a low voltage power supply.

If you remove a TEK screw, and then put it back in the same hole, can you get the same torque the second time? This is a new construction house, I'm curious if that changes anything since you only reference older installations. I frequently have to add ground bars to panels to relieve problems of multiple grounded conductors under one terminal. We have redesigned them, sourced better materials and manufacturing processes to value-engineer the strongest and most reliable ground screw available.

There will be some structures that are more suited to other types of foundations like high-rise apartment blocks, large scale infrastructure projects or something with an extremely high-load capacities. It isn’t easy to find good partners in any industry, so having one here that goes beyond the parameters of expectation is incredible.

c) says that A connection shall be made between the one or more equipment grounding conductors and a metal box by means of a grounding screw that shall be used for no other purpose, equipment listed for grounding, or a listed grounding device. The porcelain fixture has no grounding mounting points, so I guess it's grounded via that screw that secures the fixture to the box? It is perfect for applications where extra load-bearing capacity is required or the site is on steeper sloping ground. Mark, to be clear, if you install a bonding jumper to serve as the effective ground fault current path to another bar in the panel, then a sheet metal screw is not "connecting the conductors to the enclosure. The point of the bar is to easily connect several conductors to the enclosure or to connect the can to the bar which contains the EGC of the feeder. Or the wire was stripped a bit too long, so that metal wire was exposed too close to the end of the wire nut, and then a stray bit of wire or other metal fell on it. Lower Environmental Impact: Screws are less invasive to the soil, as they don’t require extensive excavation or concrete pouring. The metal box is NOT grounded but I am trying to think of an example of how anything bad would happen. I noticed that one of the light fixtures on the wall was not firmly fixed against the wall so I pulled off the cover plate to investigate and I was surprised to see that the grounding wire was not attached to the grounding screw.
